Celebrating the fall season, is filled with all sorts of crafts and projects. We always enjoy discovering new ways to decorate, and embrace the autumn elements.
We're all familiar with the traditional task of pumpkin carving. Whether you're making funny faces, team logos, or just an abstract experiment, pumpkin carving can be very messing and quite challenging. For a more elegant approach to fall decorating, we have a simple and inexpensive solution.
Contrary to what you may think, personalizing products for parties or gifts is not so difficult. You don't have to be a skilled calligrapher or have a single creative bone in your body, for that matter.
As the monogramming trend becomes more popular, you're seeing all kinds of products being personalized; from shirts to dishes. So why not make your favorite Round Top Collection pumpkins just a little more special?
In a previous post, we shared how to create script with graphite paper and paint. Now we're explaining a few short cuts to getting a very similar effect. A great place to start, when it comes to personalizing products, is with TheRTC chalkboards. These products give you the opportunity to try your hand at scripting your own design, and wiping it clean if you don't like the results. On chalkboards you have a couple different tools to choose from; you can use traditional chalk of any color, or you can purchase a pack of Bistro Chalk Markers from your local craft store. Bistro Chalk Markers work very similar to a paint pen, giving you a higher contrast result with cleaner lines. The best part about the Bistro Chalk Markers is option to wipe them clear of the chalkboard surface with a wet wipe or cleaning solution.
If you're still not confident in your penmanship, and need a simpler approach, don't worry. There are still more options for personalizing your favorite products from TheRTC.
Lastly, we have the absolute easiest of applications. A product most of us discovered at a very young age, and are absolutely confident in using... STICKERS! In the scrapbook section of your local craft store you will find a copious amount of stickers in varied fonts, sizes and colors. Stickers are ideal for personalizing items that will remain indoors. We don't recommend using stickers to personalize items that will be placed outdoors in heavy sun or weather elements. In our experience, selecting large bold fonts work well for a monogrammed look or initials. You might decide to write out a full name or even a thoughtful phrase; just be sure to keep your letters aligned with a ruler or straight edge.
Now that you've learned a few simple tricks to personalizing your favorite items from TheRTC, give it a shot and share your project. Leave us a comment and post your photos on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, or Instagram using #TheRTC.
Start out with your Everyday Magnet Wreath. We love this wreath because it's so versatile and light-weight, you can truly use it for any occasion or just as daily decor.
With the craft wire, weave through the holes of the wreath and the Bluebonnet Cross and twist to secure. For best results, find two places on the wreath to attach the cross and ensure it keeps its position.
Now that you've finished the first step, you can see this is going to be a breeze. Things are already shaping up.
Before we add any embellishments, cut a 36" piece of the Patriotic Plaid Ribbon. Weave the ribbon throughout the wreath, starting at the top of the cross and ending at the bottom. Knot the ribbon on each end to keep it from moving. You can finish the ends of your ribbon by folding them in half, vertically, and making one diagonal cut.
Next add the Daisy and Poppy Flower Magnets as you see fit. Using magnets makes this project a piece of cake. You really can't mess it up. For the indecisive decorator, this wreath is ideal.
Celebrate the beauty of Spring with a do-it-yourself custom wreath. TheRTC design team has created a simple step-by-step guide for spurring your creativity and getting you into this sunny season.
